Automotive System Requirements Engineer – Infotainment & Telematics Control Units (IVI/TCU) (m/f/d) | Wolfsburg, Germany
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Automotive System Requirements Engineer to lead end-to-end system architecture definition and
requirements engineering for infotainment and telematics control unit programs. The role requires strong cross-functional coordination
across hardware, software, connectivity, and cloud teams to deliver production-grade automotive solutions
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Requirements Engineering:
- Define, develop, and maintain end-to-end system architecture for infotainment and telematics features
- Translate feature-level requirements into detailed system-level specifications
- Develop interface definitions, functional flows, and system decomposition
- Create and maintain system requirements, use cases, and sequence diagrams
- Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, Polarion
- Author system requirements, traceability matrices, and verification strategies
- Maintain bi-directional traceability (Stakeholder → System → Software/Hardware → Validation)
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless ECU integration
- Work with connectivity modules, sensors, GNSS, cellular modems, WiFi/Bluetooth stacks
- Align with cloud/backend teams for telematics services and data pipelines
- Strong working knowledge of Communication Protocols CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP, MQTT, UART, SPI
- Hands-on contribution in integration of eCall / Emergency Call Systems, bCall, Over-the-Air (OTA) updates
- Vehicle software updates, Remote diagnostics, Vehicle data management
Required Qualifications
- 8–15 years of experience in Automotive Systems engineering
- Strong experience in Infotainment or Telematics Control Units
- Experience in ASPICE environment
- Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers
- Excellent stakeholder management and documentation skills
